3. To add a new executive, select the System and click Add Executive.
>>Note: When AirVision is installed and the service is started, the name of your computer is added as an executive by default, Executive Service Components should all be selected by default, but it’s a good idea to confirm confirm (see below).

4. In the Executive Information screen (General tab) enter or select:
  • Executive Name,
  • Executive Description
  • Network Address for the server you configuring (IP address or computer name)
  • Network Protocol (TCP or HTTP) and
  • Port number. The default Executive port number is 9885
>>Note: Don’t confuse the Executive Port number with the Logger Port number. The Executive port number is 9885 by default; the port number for 8832s and 8816s is 988 and 9887.

5. If you created a new executive, it should be added to the system configuration tree. Click the Save button.

An Executive represents an instance of a computer running the AirVision Server process within its operating system. An Executive represents a point that a Client can log into, and also a point where one or more of the background AirVision processes can run. These processes include:

  • Polling and Data Communications
  • E-mail Notifications
  • Alarm and ADVP Processing
  • Task Scheduler Management
AirVision can support any number of executives to distribute the workload across multiple machines. (check your License Agreement for the number of allowed Executives). Typically, a single Executive is all you need.

Executives can host any or all of the above functions, for example, a computer running a second executive could be relegated just for ADVP processing, and that processing function could be removed from the main server.
