Add a Modbus Instrument and ChannelsThis is a featured page

To identify the specifics of a connected Modbus-capable analyzer (required before adding a Modbus channel), select (click on) a data logger in the Data Source Details and select Add->Modbus Instrument from the top ribbon.

The user will then be queried for the following selections:
  • Instrument Name
  • Analyzer IP Address (this can be configured in the analyzer to match your local network, generally the first 3 numbers will be the same as your logger's IP)
  • Analyzer IP Port (generally '502')
  • Analyzer ID Code (the Modbus ID, also set in the analyzer)
  • Analyzer Command Code (leave as default or consult analyzer documentation for the supported Modbus code for querying data)
  • Poll Frequency (in tenths of seconds, values of 20-50 recommended)

Once the instrument has been set up, use this procedure to create a new channel, choosing the Modbus channel type.

At the "Misc" tab, choose the desired Modbus instrument added above, and the desired parameter in the driver.

If you run into difficulties with data coming into the analyzers, try these steps to Troubleshoot Modbus Connections.

By going to the "Misc" tab on the Modbus channel form, the user can select a connected Modbus instrument and the desired parameter from the AirVision library.
